What The ML350 Gen9 Actually Is
The HP ProLiant ML350 Gen9 is HP's flagship tower server (5U tower by default, convertible to a 4U rack form factor with HP's optional conversion kit) — a Gen9-only chassis, built exclusively around Intel's E5-2600 v3/v4 ("Haswell-EP"/"Broadwell-EP") CPUs. It is not the same chassis as the earlier ML350p Gen8, and Gen8 specs don't apply to this listing.

Processor: up to 2x Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 or v4 (Gen9-only — no Gen8 CPU compatibility). RAM: 24 DIMM slots, DDR4 RDIMM/LRDIMM only, up to 768GB with standard RDIMM or up to 3TB with 128GB LRDIMM modules across all slots. Management: HP iLO 4 (HP's own controller — not paired with Dell's OpenManage, which is a different vendor's tool). Hot-swap SAS/SATA bays, redundant hot-swap Flex Slot PSU, PCIe 3.0 expansion.
Where This Will Let You Down
DDR4-only — no DDR3 backward compatibility, so you can't reuse older memory. Gen9-specific CPUs only (E5-2600 v3/v4) — a Gen8 or Gen10 processor will not fit this socket.
