Dell PowerEdge R7625 — 2U Dual AMD EPYC 9004 (Genoa) Rack Server in India

The Dell PowerEdge R7625 is a 2U, dual-socket rack server built on AMD's EPYC 9004 “Genoa” platform. Two sockets take you to 192 cores and 384 threads, and the platform moves to DDR5 memory and PCIe Gen5 — which is the real reason to look at an R7625 rather than an older EPYC box. Serverwale supplies tested, warranty-backed R7625 configurations across India, built to the core count, memory and storage your workload actually needs.

This is a machine you buy when core density and memory bandwidth are the bottleneck: heavy virtualisation, in-memory databases, analytics, CI/build farms, and software-defined storage. If your workload is lighter, an older Xeon or EPYC generation will usually be the better spend — we will tell you so.

Where the R7625 actually earns its price in India

  • VM density. 192 cores in 2U means far more VMs per rack unit — this is where the R7625 pays for itself against a fleet of older 1U boxes, once you count power, cooling and VMware/Proxmox host licensing.
  • In-memory workloads. 12 DDR5 channels per socket give the memory bandwidth that SAP HANA, Redis, large PostgreSQL and analytics jobs are usually starved of on DDR4.
  • NVMe-heavy storage. 24 NVMe bays on PCIe Gen5 make it a serious software-defined storage or Ceph node.
  • Build / CI farms. Compile and regression workloads scale almost linearly with cores — EDA, VLSI and large monorepo builds in Bengaluru and Hyderabad are common buyers.
  • Modest GPU work. Two double-width cards fit, so it doubles as an inference or light-training node. For serious multi-GPU training, look at our GPU servers instead.

R7625, R7525 or R740xd — which one should you actually buy?

Most buyers who search for the R7625 do not need one. The honest breakdown:

  • R740xd (Intel Xeon Scalable, DDR4) — still the best value for general virtualisation, file/print, ERP and mid-size databases. If you are consolidating a handful of ageing servers, start here.
  • R7525 (EPYC 7003 “Milan”, DDR4) — up to 128 cores in 2U at a materially lower price than Genoa. The sweet spot for core-hungry work that is not memory-bandwidth-bound.
  • R7625 (EPYC 9004 “Genoa”, DDR5, PCIe Gen5) — buy this when you genuinely need DDR5 bandwidth, PCIe Gen5 NVMe, or the highest core density available in 2U.

If you are still deciding between the two architectures, our Xeon vs EPYC comparison lays out the trade-offs, and we stock the full range of AMD EPYC servers if a different generation fits better.

Condition, testing and warranty

Every R7625 we ship is bench-tested before dispatch: CPU and memory burn-in, drive health (SMART) checks, RAID controller and battery verification, iDRAC licensing, and a full firmware/BIOS update. Chassis are cleaned, fans and thermal paste checked, and the exact configuration is documented on the invoice — so you know precisely which CPU SKU, DIMM population and drive models you are getting, not a vague “dual EPYC” line item.

Units ship with a Serverwale warranty of 90 days to 1 year depending on the configuration — the exact term for this unit is shown on the Warranty tab above. Pan-India delivery from our Burari, Delhi facility. If you need longer cover or guaranteed on-site response times, add an server AMC.

Pricing

R7625 pricing is entirely configuration-driven — the CPU SKU alone (a 32-core 9354 versus a 96-core 9654) can swing the total by several lakh, before memory and NVMe. Rather than publish a headline number that will not match your build, we quote against your actual requirement. Tell us the core count, RAM, storage and whether you need GPUs, and you will have a written quote with the exact part numbers. Frequently asked questions

Is the Dell PowerEdge R7625 available refurbished in India?
Yes. The R7625 is a current-generation platform, so refurbished and off-lease stock is limited compared with the R740/R7525 — availability moves week to week. Call us with your target configuration and we will confirm what is in stock before you commit.

How many cores does the R7625 support?
Up to 96 cores per socket with the EPYC 9004 series, so 192 cores and 384 threads across two sockets. Most real deployments land between 32 and 64 cores per socket — more cores also means a higher TDP and a bigger cooling and licensing bill, so it is worth sizing honestly.

Does the R7625 use DDR4 or DDR5?
DDR5 only, across 24 DIMM slots and 12 memory channels per socket. DDR4 from an older R7525 or R740xd is not compatible — if you were planning to carry memory across from an existing server, that will not work.

Can the R7625 run GPUs?
Yes — up to 2 double-width or 6 single-width cards, which suits inference and light training. If you need 4 or more double-width GPUs, a purpose-built GPU server is the right chassis.

What warranty comes with a refurbished R7625?
90 days to 1 year depending on the configuration — the exact term is listed on the Warranty tab of this page. For longer cover or guaranteed on-site response, add a server AMC. Every unit is bench-tested and the exact spec is documented on the invoice.
