Cisco 40GbE Network Interface Card is a 40 Gigabit Ethernet server adapter using QSFP+ connectors — the standard MSA connector format for 40GbE, supporting multimode/single-mode fiber transceivers or DAC cables (sold separately). Cards in this range commonly use an Intel XL710-class chipset over a PCIe 3.0 x8 host interface, sized to sustain dual-port line-rate traffic.
Typical Use
40GbE is deployed where 10GbE is a bottleneck — high-throughput storage fabric, spine-leaf datacenter core/uplink connections, and database or heavily-virtualized servers with sustained high-bandwidth demand. You'll need matching QSFP+ transceivers/DACs and switch ports rated for 40GbE — confirm your switch infrastructure supports it before ordering.
Condition & Testing
Sourced from decommissioned enterprise hardware, link-tested before dispatch.
